Garjiya Temple (17 kms / 30 mins)

One of the famous Shakti Shrine in Uttarakhand, Garjiya Devi Temple is the holy temple of Garjiya Devi, presiding deity of the temple. Legends believe that Garjiya Devi is the incarnation of Goddess Parwati, daughter of King of the Mountains Himalaya also known as Giriraj. The temple is situated over a large rock in the Kosi River and is one of the most famous temples of the Nainital district, visited by thousands of devotees during Kartik Poornima, a Hindu holy day celebrated on the fifteenth lunar day of Kartik.

Kosi River (17 kms / 30 mins)

The eastern periphery of Corbett National Park is entirely fed by the Kosi River that flows from Mohan till Ramnagar via Dhikuli. While the river does not enter the park, the wild animals use the river water for quenching their thirst, especially during pinch periods. The Kosi river bed is filled with boulders and its flow is erratic and often changes course. The river water is pristine; you can sit here with your feet dipped in water or enjoy angling. One could do it just below Garjiya Temple.

Suspension bridge (14 kms / 25 mins)

A large part of the park extends along the Kosi, where visitors can practice rafting and zip-line from the Suspension bridge that climbs the river. However, you must first obtain permission from the park authorities. Fishermen can enjoy the golden mahseer, a kind of Indian carp, in the waters of Ramganga and Kosi. These tents also attract many migratory birds. Fishing is only allowed outside the boundaries of the park.
